Bill Condon's interview on the last day of filming BD

Summit Entertainment and director Bill Condon opted to shoot both parts of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn concurrently, which led to some interesting - and confusing - days on the set for the cast. At the LA press day for Breaking Dawn Part 1, Condon admitted it was particularly tough on Kristen Stewart ('Bella') as she had to juggle extremes during the shoot. Over the course of one day of shooting Stewart would go from high school Bella in the morning to a vampire in the afternoon and then to a newly married pregnant woman in the evening. Condon says it was a crazy experience, however the cast and crew managed to survive with their sanity intact.

And as for what it was like on the set when he said 'Cut' for the final time, Condon says the emotional impact of the moment took some cast members by surprise::

"The last day was the middle of April and it snowed and I was like, 'Oh my god it's hard to shoot in Vancouver.' It was always raining and snowing, but I couldn't believe it was snowing that late. There were two big moments. One of them was that dance of Kristen's and Taylor's, and Rob stayed for the whole thing. We ended at dawn and I think it took everyone by surprise how emotional that was that they would never be playing those characters again. In typical fashion, everyone got emotional and Kristen cut it with a joke. On the last take everyone runs off and it is just her and Rob. I call, 'Cut.' She takes a beat and then she starts running in that wedding dress into the forest and yells, 'Jacob come back. Come back! I made a mistake!' It was great."

"And then the final real moment was that cool dance at the wedding where...that little moment where Jackson [Rathbone] and Ashley [Greene] are dancing but everyone's there. Every single person who was still there, including the high school friends, we called cut and everyone spent an hour hugging each other. It was great."
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 hits theaters on November 18, 2011.
